Ittoqqortoormiit in Greenland
Ittoqqortoormiit is a community at the eastern tip of Greenland. Founded in 1925, Ittoqqortoormiit has long relied on subsistence hunting as its main source of livelihood. The community was prosperous until the fall of the hides market, but is now under pressure. It remains rather isolated, 930km away from Tasiilaq, and access remains weather dependent. Tourism is seen as one of the only economic options.
